LRTTC is excited to announce that we have been selected by USATT to host one of the 2019 USA Hopes Camp and Tournament events. The camp will take place on Friday and Saturday, February 22-23, and the tournament will take place on Sunday February 24.
The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF)/USA Table Tennis (USATT) Hopes Program is a series of regional, national and international camps and competitions designed to spark motivation and interest for skilled and talented young table tennis athletes who have a love for table tennis and who wish to become high-level players. Participants will receive expert coaching and training from USATT National Coaches for three days in a fun, rewarding environment in which they will have an opportunity to meet peers and share experiences.
Two local Arkansas coaches, Mike Lauro (USATT National/ITTF Level 3) and Russ Hamilton (USATT National) will assist either USATT National Team Coach Pieke Franssen (former Dutch National Coach for Men’s and Women’s teams, and Olympic Coach) or USATT High Performance Director Joerg Bitzigeio.
The Hopes Camp and Tournament are open to junior players born after 1/1/2007 and only these players are eligible to qualify in the tournament for the stage, the USATT Hopes Week and Challenge to be held in April 2019. There is a limit of 24 entries. Players up to age 15 may be accepted for camp and tournament provided there is space available and they would then play in an extra event at the tournament. Participation in the tournament requires participation in the two days of camp.
The training camps will take place on Friday and Saturday with 2 training sessions per day. Saturday lunch and afternoon break will include an optional visit to the Little Rock Zoo located across the street from the camp facility. Dinners will be organized for camp participants and their family on Friday and Saturday evenings.
On Sunday the USATT / ITTF Hopes Qualifying Tournament is an opportunity for players to enjoy playing in a competitive environment against their peers at a national level.
Please see the LRTTC official 2019 USA Hopes Camp brochure and entry form (PDF) for all the details.
